Study Media and Production at NYFA
In NYFA’s BA in Media Studies (BA) undergraduate degree program, students build critical knowledge and skills in critical studies, communication, marketing, and interactive narrative. Throughout the program, students advance their technology, storytelling, and production skills, gaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of how media is spread and consumed. The BA in Media Studies is ideal for students who want to learn about digital production in the 21st century.
Our signature hands-on approach helps students gain advanced skills and knowledge in directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, and producing. The program aims to provide students with the framework to bring capitvating stories to life through film and content creation, and to emerge from our BFA program with strengthened communication, leadership, problem-solving, collaboration, and time management skills.

Curriculum
The BA in Media Studies curriculum at NYFA’s film school includes:
- Intensive courses designed to enhance presentation, marketing, reporting, research, and writing skills, such as Marketing, Media & Society, Business of Emerging Media, Interactive Storytelling, Principles of Journalism, and more
- Required Liberal Arts and Sciences classes such as History of Video Games, Psychology of Production, and Art History
- Award-winning filmmaking faculty who actively work in the industry
- The ability to access our equipment library with industry-standard cameras, light kits, sound gear, and more
- Access to guest lectures with industry leaders in film, such as directors, actors, cinematographers, producers, and more

NYFA’s Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies is a specialized eight-semester media degree. Students may complete the program in three years by taking three full-length semesters in each year. Students may also choose to complete the program in a traditional four-year time frame.
