Stephanie Allain has a success track in spearheading successful feature films and television shows. Allain is most notable as a producer for hit content such as Netflix’s Dear White People, Hustle & Flow, Beyond the Lights, Burning Sands, Juanita, and The Weekend.

Allain was most recently elected as one of two new Presidents for the Producers Guild of America. She and Donald De Line ran unopposed, and marks the first time in PGA history that a woman of color will be leading the industry organization.

After the hit film Hustle and Flow was distributed across theaters, it earned the Audience Award at that year’s Sundance Film Festival as well as the Oscar for ‘Best Original Song’ and a ‘Best Acting’ nomination for Terrance Howard’s role as Djay.

Allain was Senior Vice President of Columbia Pictures where she helped launch the careers of filmmakers Robert Rodrigues and John Singleton with their thought-provoking film Boyz N The Hood. Following her time with Columbia Pictures, the moved on to role as President of Jim Henson Pictures.

The producer spoke to the NYFA community in 2015, where she discussed forming the company Homegrown Pictures. Allain gave invaluable advice about rising the ranks in Hollywood and how to hone screenwriting skill sets for aspiring writers.
