Robert Towne is considered to be one of the top writers in Hollywood. Some of his acclaimed work includes Bonnie and Clyde, The Zodiac Killer, Chinatown, Shampoo, Heaven Can Wait, Tequila Sunrise, Days of Thunder, The Firm, and Suspect Zero. Many consider these to be some of the best screenplays ever written. Towne works as a writer, director, producer, and actor. Born in Los Angeles and raised in the seaport town of San Pedro, he got his start acting and writing for legendary exploitation director/producer Roger Corman and came into his own during the 1970;s when he was regarded as one of the finest screenwriters in Hollywood. Towne was gracious enough to spend some time with the students at NYFA at Los Angeles. He won the Academy Award for his work on Chinatown in 1974.
