Academy Award-winning actor, Kevin Kline spoke with New York Film Academy students in New York City in December 2006 about the extraordinary collaboration that can occur between actors and directors. Kline described the thrill of working in his first film role in Sophie’s Choice, where director Alan Pakula allowed him and co-star, Meryl Streep, to fully explore the characters and the drama of each scene without being constrained by preconceived lighting, or shot design.
