Javier Aguirresarobe is a Spanish cinematographer who has been the director of photography on numerous critically acclaimed and blockbuster movies, including two Twilight films, Thor: Ragnarok, The Finest Hours, Goosebumps, Talk to Her, and The Road. Aguirresarobe has worked with many of the industry’s biggest directors, including Taika Waititi, Pedro Almodóvar, Woody Allen, and Miloš Forman. Speaking to NYFA students at the Riverside Theater, Aguirresarobe went into great detail about his work on the hit post-apocalypse epic, The Road, and clearly enjoyed explaining the technical aspects of the shoot, remarking “Using the fire as a key light creates a horrible image. It creates a very intense red. The shadow gets very rough.”
