Chris HegedusEDITOR | DIRECTOR | CINEMATOGRAPHER

Award winning documentary director Chris Hegedus is a famous Direct Cinema filmmaker, eschewing narration and formal “talking head” interviews in favor of a cinéma vérité recording of events.

Her most famous film, The War Room, chronicled Bill Clinton’s 1992 Presidential campaign and helped make James Carville and George Stephanopoulos household names. The film won the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures prize for Best Documentary, while Hegedus also picked up a Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Director for her 2000 film, Startup.com.

Hegedus spoke to NYFA Los Angeles students in 2016 with her husband and frequent partner and co-director, D.A. Pennebaker.
