Cassian Elwes began his producing career with 1983’s Oxford Blues starring Rob Lowe and Ally Sheedy, and quickly went on to make another 29 films, including Men At Work and The Chase. In 1995, Elwes joined the William Morris Agency, and headed their independent film division for 14 years. His first effort, The English Patient, won 9 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. He quickly followed up with a number of Oscar-winning hits, including Sling Blade, Monster’s Ball, and Frozen River. Elwes spoke with students at New York Film Academy’s Los Angeles campus in October 2011, following a screening of the Academy Award-nominated film, Half Nelson.
