Chandrika Ravi is an Indian actress, dancer, producer, host and activist born in Melbourne, Australia to Tamil, Malayalee parents from Singapore.
In 2018, Chandrika Ravi made her debut in the Indian film industry with the Tamil comedy hit Irattu Arayil Murattu Kuthu, quickly establishing herself as a rising star. Over the next year, she starred in three more Indian films, building a strong presence in the industry. Chandrika’s performance in the 2023 Telugu blockbuster Veera Simha Reddy earned widespread acclaim, with her appearance amassing over 30 million views on YouTube. The film had a remarkable 365-day run in theaters and also joined the prestigious 100 Crore Club, grossing over 100 million internationally. A true trailblazer, she has now wrapped her 9th Indian film and continues to be celebrated for her talent and passion.
Chandrika’s latest announcement—co-creating and starring as the legendary Silk Smitha in the official Silk Smitha biopic—solidifies her status as the first global Indian sex symbol of this generation.
This year, Chandrika made history as the first Indian actress to host her own radio show and podcast in the US. In partnership with two major American networks, iHeart Radio and Rukus Avenue Radio, she successfully produced and hosted the show, which has been renewed for a second season due to its global success. Chandrika has also hosted live events and segments on television and radio stations worldwide, working with prestigious clients like NBC Universal, SBS Australia, and ABC Australia. She is currently developing an original unscripted series that combines her passion for travel and food.
She started acting and dancing at the age of 3, undergoing extensive training in the classical Indian dance styles of Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Bollywood and Indian Folk Dance as well as Musical Theatre at The Temple of Fine Arts. At the age of 8 she began her studies at The Australian National Youth Performing Arts Group in Musical Theatre, Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary dance, going on to study ‘English and Creative Arts’ at Murdoch University in Western Australia after finishing high school. In 2012, Chandrika graduated from the prestigious New York Film Academy in Los Angeles with a diploma in Acting for Film and is now recognized as one of their most notable alumni.
In 2011, Chandrika made history as the first Indian to reach the state finals of Miss World Australia. Soon after, she won the title of Miss Maxim India Runner-Up 2012. She continues her passion for modeling with many global endorsements, partnerships and campaigns, along with being published in renowned magazines internationally.
Chandrika’s ambition, passion and humility combined with her commitment to representing Indians on the global stage, have opened doors to countless opportunities in entertainment, captivating audiences worldwide. Through her achievements she has become a role model to young women and men of colour everywhere, one of the biggest blessings she could ever ask for, instilling hope and determination that they too can break the mold.
Chandrika uses her growing voice to advocate equality and rights for women and children around the world, especially in India; along with being a spokesperson for mental illness and advocates to help break the taboos that surround it in South Asian Communities. She currently works with UNICEF India and various other NGO’S in India to help bring relief to the needy.
The multihyphenate resides in Los Angeles, continuing to leave her mark on the world as an Indian bombshell.
